One staff member that has taken part in the program is associate professor Gasper Kitange. “This is very important for the way they think, and it is very good for them to develop critical thinking.”
Students were introduced to the Hormel Institute, and the research happening there.
One student tells us he really enjoyed the weather related experiments, sixth grader Toby French. “I really think that it’s been more interactive and that’s it been giving me a better understanding of it. If I had to be a type of scientist, I would probably be a meteorologist.”
The sixth graders that attended today make up about half of their class. The other half will get to attend next May.
