(ABC 6 News) – A winter storm barreling down on the region will not only bring snow, and strong winds, but bitterly cold temperatures.
ABC 6 Weather First meteorologists say wind chills may reach -40° or colder Friday and Saturday mornings. In response, Rochester Public Transit (RPT), is activating their fare-free program, “A Warm Place to Be.”
Anyone who may be caught outside from Thursday through Saturday, can simply notify an RPT driver that they need to escape the cold and warm up, and no fare will be charged to board the bus.
Most RPT routes start and end in downtown Rochester, running in 30-minute intervals in the peak times and 60-minute intervals during midday, evening and weekend/holiday service.
