Mayo Clinic to give away ice cream cakes to blood donors

(ABC 6 News) – Mayo Clinic Rochester plans to incentivize blood donors to come in the week after the 4th with ice cream cake.
Between July 5 and 8, any time a person donates blood, they’ll be entered into a daily ice cream cake giveaway.
The cakes will come from Rochester ice cream shops like Flapdoodles, Cold Stone Creamery, and N Broadway’s Dairy Queen.
People tend not to donate blood around holidays, but the need increases due to increased travel and outdoor activity, which can cause injuries, according to Mayo Clinic.
There are two donation sites in Rochester:

Hilton Building, First Floor
210 2nd St. SW
The Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Center’s location on the main floor of the Hilton Building is open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with special late-night hours on Tuesday, Dec. 21 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus
Joseph Building, Main Floor, Room M-86
1216 Second St. SW
The Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Center’s location at Joseph M-86 is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
