(ABC 6 News) – The State Fire Marshall Office is looking into the cause of an overnight fire that destroyed three businesses in Kasson.
The fire broke out early Tuesday morning just before two in the morning and was extinguished eight hours later. The building where the fire started is located at 701 8th St. SE in Kasson. The building did not have a fire sprinkler system, according to police.
The building was home to three businesses: KA Moe & Associates Accounting, Bigelow Painting and Deraad Overhead Doors.
A fourth business was saved by an early morning phone call. The Hoff Auto Repair Shop sits directly behind the now pile of charred debris.
"The police department called me at home and told me to get over here and open the doors cause they wanted to make sure the fire wasn’t spreading to the roof of my business too," Mike Hoff, the owner of Hoff Auto Repair, said.
The auto shop lost gas, power and internet but the building itself was untouched. Hoff says he is thankful to the firefighters for helping him save his business. Unfortunately, not everyone was as lucky.
"They lost all of their businesses, this isn’t about me this is about getting them back on their feet and we’re still going," Hoff said.
According to the police department, no one was hurt but the building is a total loss.
