Mason City Christmas tree collection scheduled for Jan. 11
(ABC 6 News) – The City of Mason City announced that residents looking to get rid of their Christmas trees that the city will collect them on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
The city said that trees should be placed at the curbside in front of residents homes prior to 7:00 a.m. that morning. The city asks that if a tree is over 6 feet tall, to cut it in half before placing on the curb.
Tree stands, nails or metal fasteners, wire, and any material items must be removed from the tree. Also, trees must NOT be placed in bags. Roping or wreathes that contain wire must be placed in regular garbage.
The city said if there is any snow accumulation prior to Jan. 11, residents are asked to make sure trees are not buried in snow if they have been sitting on the curb.
