Mild Air = Minor Messes
Highs in the middle 30s are always welcome this time of the year, especially following the bitter cold we just experienced last week & weekend. However, as nice as the 30s will feel, and not the sub-zero temperatures, the mild air may lead to a few headaches on the roads over the next 7 days. As temperatures hover around the freezing point, this will allow our precipitation to be that mixed bag variety of rain/sleet/freezing rain/snow at times with each wave of energy sliding through. This will be the case first Wednesday evening-early Thursday, on & off Thursday – early Friday, later New Year’s Eve into early New Year’s Day morning, with a more potent storm to track next Monday – Tuesday. The Monday – Tuesday timeframe will be watched very closely for the better opportunity for travel impacts, but that track remains somewhat in question at this time. Even though the chances Wednesday evening – Sunday are the strongest or greatest, still be on guard for icy spots during this time.
