Olmsted first responders traverse SE MN for special Olympics

(ABC 6 News) – Law enforcement agencies across the state are taking part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg for Special Olympics Minnesota

The Torch Run began on bicycle in Hastings, and ends at the Rochester Government Center Wednesday evening.

The route is about 92 miles long passing through Red Wing, Zumbrota, Pine Island, and ending in Rochester.

Special Olympics athletes and families will join law enforcement officers during the last leg, which should conclude at City Hall between 5:15 and 5:30 p.m. Viewers in Zumbrota can look for the runners around 2:30 p.m.

The procession will move south on Highway 52, arriving in Pine Island around 3:45 and the Bandel Road Kwik Trip around 4:30 p.m.

The run will then travel on 65th St. to Overland Drive, to 18th Avenue South and West Frontage Road. There will be a stop at Advanced Auto Parts (1760 Hwy. 52 N) where Rochester’s fire department will join the run.

From there, the run will proceed from 11th Avenue to Civic Center Drive, ending at City Hall.
