Early Week Mess On The Way
The first few days of 2023 aren’t looking too nice for the local area, as another strong winter storm moves through the region Monday – early Wednesday. The latest trends continue to show the Weather First viewing area miss out on the heaviest snowfall. That’s good, right? Well, yes and also no. Yes, because we won’t be seeing the high end totals, which may near a foot or more in some areas to our west & north. No, because that means we are in the “warmer” section of this system, which now looks to bring us not only rain, but more of a freezing rain threat Monday afternoon into early Tuesday morning. Ice accumulations will be possible, meaning the commutes Monday evening, Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon, and possibly Tuesday evening will be difficult at times. While we won’t see the high end totals, as of now (track could shift, bringing those higher totals closer to home) we will see accumulating snow out of this Tuesday afternoon/evening into early Wednesday. And with a little wind, you can be assured that travel impacts will be possible during this time. Long story short, because of these threats, ALERT DAY statuses are in place Monday afternoon – Wednesday morning.
