Historic 1918 Kasson Public School to be turned into apartments for seniors
(ABC 6 News) – The historic 1918 Kasson Public School will be turned into upscale market-rate apartments for seniors.
Kasson Historic Properties LLC has signed a purchase agreement for the historic 1918 Kasson Public School. The development group that formed KHP is investigating rehabilitating the school into 28-30 upscale market-rate apartments for seniors.
The building would feature one and two-bedroom apartments including unique split-level units. Covered parking, garages, activity room, library, community room, fitness center, and community gardens are also proposed. This apartment building is for independent seniors.
The working title of the development is Water Tower Place which honors the city-owned National Register-listed 1895-era water tower located on a corner of the block.
The historic 1918 Kasson Public School is located at 101 3rd Avenue Northwest and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. The school district vacated the school in 2005 and sold it to the City of Kasson and a Limited Liability Limited Partnership group purchased the school in 2014 and has been seeking development plans since.
