(ABC 6 News) – Bad Ass Coffee welcomed customers with fun prizes and some furry friends at its grand opening.
The coffee shop also attracted customers with a furry mascot of their own. A donkey was seen walking around the block, getting the attention of potential customers.
"I saw the person in the costume standing on the corner. They have a great experience, they are really friendly, so that’s what I really love about them," Timothy Luu said after grabbing a coffee from the shop.
The donkey is the shop’s mascot and it represents hard work back in Kona, Hawaii. Natives of Big Island nicknamed these donkeys "Bad Asses" and the owners of the shop chose the store’s name from there.
During Bad Ass Coffee’s two-day grand opening, 10% of all proceeds will go directly to a local non-profit, the Paws and Claws Humane Society, in Rochester.
