Rochester news website Med City Beat shutters

(ABC 6 News) – Med City Beat owner Sean Baker announced Monday that the Rochester news project has closed.

The website was founded in 2014 via Kickstarter and shuttered in early 2023 after Baker made the decision to refocus on his family, he wrote.

“First, I want to assure you that I am committed to preserving our archives so that our stories remain accessible for the long-term,” Baker wrote. “Second, I encourage you to continue supporting local journalism in any way you can. Social media feeds are not substitutes for diligent reporting.”
