BSWR searching for pollinators

(ABC 6 News) – There’s a new push by the Minnesota Board of Soil and Water resources to encourage people in Mower County to invest in what they call “Pocket parries.”
It’s through a program called ‘Lawns and Legumes‘.
These grants allow those who qualify to be reimbursed for the costs of establishing new pollinator habitat in their yard that is maintained for at least three years.
The BSWR is encouraging residents in Mower county to get involved in this program because it’s where regular sightings of the north star state bee are found.
“The goal of the program is to help increase pollinator habitat for rusty patch bumble bees and all pollinators. it’s the first opportunity for people that I know of in town,” said Mower County SWCD conservation technician Jessica Bulman.

While they are focusing on Mower county residents, any Minnesota resident with an outdoor planting space in a residential area can apply through January 18.
