ALERT DAY: Snow to wind down; improvements as day progresses

(ABC 6 News) – A winter storm moving through the region has led to some crashes and spinouts on area roads, however improvement is expected as the day progresses.

ABC 6 News Weather First meteorologists say the heaviest snow is over, however we will continue to see bursts of light, steady snow showers through the day with snow ending this evening.

Snowfall totals from the storm will range from 5-9″ with some communities perhaps even receiving more by the time the storm wraps up.

The snow will wrap-up through the afternoon hours, however there will still be some impacts on roads through much of the day with conditions improving by evening.

Wind will be picking up a little as well, but it won’t be playing a significant role in our travel impacts. The NW wind will be gusting in the 25-30 mph range Thursday, causing a few minor blowing/drifting snow issues, especially out in the open.

Temps slowly cool down into the weekend and next week. Highs typically will be in the 20s for the early part of the stretch.
