Mower County man arrested for gun crime
(ABC 6 News) – A Mower County man who stepped into a renter’s dispute faces gun charges in Olmsted County court.
At about 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, Rochester police responded to a report that someone had pointed a handgun at another person in the 900 block of Village Circle SE.
A woman who rented a residence from a Rochester landlady got into a verbal altercation with the landlady’s daughter, who had come to the home with a friend the renter said wasn’t allowed on the property.
The daughter called her brother for backup, while the Umon Moore, 25, of Waltham backed up the renter.
A witness in the area and the landlady’s children told Rochester police that Moore pointed a gun at the landlady’s son as the two men argued.
The renter said while Moore displayed a handgun during the altercation, he never pointed it at anyone.
Rochester police located Moore’s residence in the 75000 block of Highway 56 and arrested him outside on the morning of Thursday, July 28.
According to the police report, he had a handgun in his waistband at the time.
Moore was charged Friday, July 29, with two counts of 2nd-degree assault and carrying a pistol without a permit.
