Mason City man arrested after shooting at a vehicle

(ABC 6 News) – Mason City Police officers responded to a report of a shots fired incident on Sunday night.

MCPD arrived on scene in the area of 19th Street SE and South Massachusetts Avenue, and identified two vehicles that had been involved in an altercation that had occurred while they were driving on city streets for several minutes prior to the shooting.

The parties were known to one another before the shooting occurred.

Both vehicles were damaged in the incident, one from receiving gunfire and the other as shots were fired from it. An investigation was completed at the scene and a long gun was seized from one of the vehicles. A handgun was also recovered as part of the investigation.

Officers served a subsequent search warrant at a residence after all of the parties to the shooting were identified and located.

Dave Obregon, 39, of Mason City was arrested and charged with a Class C Felony – intimidation with a dangerous weapon, and a Failure to Appear Warrant out of Cerro Gordo County.

Obregon remains in the Cerro Gordo County Jail, pending a future court appearance.

The investigation into the events prior to the shooting and the shooting itself is ongoing.
