Hutchinson man to face multiple 2021 child sexual abuse charges in May; no trial scheduled for charge accrued while out on bail
(ABC 6 News) – A Hutchinson man will face two 1st-degree charges and two 2nd-degree charges of criminal sexual conduct involving children in May of this year.
Daniel Joseph Kenney, 45, is accused of molesting two children who visited his home when he lived in Stewartville in the summer of 2021.
According to court documents, Kenney allegedly touched both Stewartville children sexually, resulting in two counts of each of 1st- and 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Kenney allegedly sent a shirtless photo and suggestive messages to one of the children over Messenger Kids, a Facebook messaging platform designed for juveniles. According to court documents, one of the children told her mother that Kenney, 43 at the time, told her he would marry her someday.
The child was under 13.
The second child told law enforcement Kenney had touched her sexually beginning at age 7, according to court documents.
Kenney pleaded not guilty on all counts.
Kenney is scheduled to stand trial on all Stewartville charges May 8, 2023. His pretrial is scheduled for May
After Kenney was released on bail, he allegedly moved to a home in McLeod County, where he encountered an 8-year-old girl in December 2022.
Kenney faces an additional charge of 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct in McLeod County, after the 8-year-old told her mother and law enforcement that Kenney had molested her.
Kenney’s bail was revoked. He is currently held at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center on $100,000 bail.
His next McLeod County court hearing has not been scheduled.
