(ABC 6 News) — The Rochester Honkers played their last home game before the Northwoods League All-Star Game on Friday.
With a good crowd on hand for a beach and summer-themed night, the Honkers got up early over the visiting Waterloo Bucks in the second inning. Alex Ritzer fired off a two-run RBI single giving the Honkers a 2-0 lead.
The third inning saw more runs thanks to mistakes by Waterloo, All-Star Nico Regino stole second as the pick-off throw went awry, allowing Rochester to score from third. Waterloo would load the bases and give up two more runs off of that as the Honkers’ victory was assured in an 11-2 decision.
Rochester visits the St. Cloud Rox next starting on Saturday at 6:35 PM.
