(ABC 6 News) – For the first time in two years, the Byron Fire Department is hosting a Firefighters Dance. A fun night out, with a reason.

The money raised from Saturday night’s event will go towards the fire department, and help in Salem and Kalmar Townships. This is the only fundraiser the department puts on during the year.

Those who attend can enjoy music from Problem Child, drinks from 3-D’s Sports Bar, and food from Schoenies Pizza.

"The biggest thing is just people getting together," said John Bendix, the dance chairman at the fire department. "Having a good time, having fun, and kind of no pressure, no expectations. Just come and have some fun."

The event will happen rain or shine.

Bendix said once Saturday night is over, planning for next year’s dance will begin shortly after.
