(ABC 6 News) – In an online video posted to YouTube, the creators behind the channel confront a man who they say was soliciting an underage girl in Rochester. But when they confront him, he tells them he is a member of the Plainview Police Department, and even gives them a fake badge number.

Some local men have created the YouTube channel to expose, who they call, "predators" in the area.

The video was posted to YouTube three days ago.

Plainview Police Chief, Jason Timm, says the community brought the video to his attention. Chief Timm then posed on Facebook, to alert the public of the false identification.

"It’s hard on law enforcement to begin with nowadays and then you have someone claim to be one of your staff whose appears to be conducting himself in a very unethical way, is quite disturbing," Chief Timm said.

In this particular case, there has not been a police report, so the Rochester Police Department has not formally investigated the incident.

RPD advises the community to stay away from any kind of confrontation in these situations, as it can be dangerous. Instead, anyone with allegations should directly report to the police department.
