Rochester man begins 30-day jail sentence for child porn possession

(ABC 6 News) – UPDATE: Jon Anthony Jones began his jail sentence Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024.

A Rochester man pleaded guilty to one of 10 Olmsted County child porn charges and was sentenced to 5 years’ supervised probation and 30 days of jail time, to begin by March of 2024.

Jon Anthony Jones, 44, was accused of uploading child pornography to Microsoft Bing in August of 2022.

He pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of child porn possession in January of this year, then amended his plea Monday, Sept. 11.

His plea agreement specifies that he will be granted work release during his time at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center.

The conditions of Jones’ probation include attending sex offender treatment, avoiding unsupervised contact with minors or holding positions of authority over them, and registration as a predatory offender.

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man pleaded not guilty to 10 charges of possessing child pornography Tuesday, Jan. 31.

Jon Anthony Jones, 43, will stand trial on all charges on July 11, 2023, according to court documents released Tuesday.

According to court documents, Jones was accused in August of 2022, after Rochester police received a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force alleging that a user at Jones’ address had uploaded Child Sex Abuse Materials (CSAM) or child pornography, to Microsoft Bing.

Rochester police allegedly seized a laptop Jones used, which had deleted folders with suspicious names, according to court documents.

Jones also spoke to law enforcement and admitted to viewing child pornography, then searching for it, according to court documents.
