(ABC 6 News) – After more than a year of being closed, the Mayowood Mansion is set to reopen for tours starting Sept. 1.
So if you haven’t gotten the chance to go or want to go again, now is the time to start planning your trip.
The History Center of Olmsted County says they’re getting hundreds of phone calls from people wondering when the mansion was going to reopen, and now they have an answer.
"So we couldn’t be more pleased to be able to resume the tours and get things going, get folks up there to take a peek inside the house,” Wayne Gannaway, executive director for the History Center of Olmsted County said.
Doctor Charles H. Mayo, co-founder of Mayo Clinic, who lived in the mansion until 1939, built the mansion in 1911.
Staff says this 38-room home is something to experience. You’ll see decorative art, gardens, and antique furnishings.
“I personally can’t wait to see people looking at the various portraits of the different Mayo’s in the house, and really enjoying the ambiance of Mayowood Mansion so I look forward to having folks in the mansion,” Gannaway said.
You must wear a facemask during the tour.
