Mason City Police respond to robbery and man threatening staff with knife
(ABC 6 News) – Mason City Police said they responded to a couple incidents Saturday involving an alleged robbery and a frightening situation for one Dairy Queen staff member.
Police said the staff member was opening work when the employee saw a man inside the building.
That man threatened the employee with a knife, according to police. The staff member got away and called police but the suspect got away before officers arrived.
Police said they also responded to another incident involving a robbery on Saturday.
Someone reported that a man had robbed a woman on the 400 block of Tiffany Drive, police said. Officers state they chased the man down by foot and used their Taser to apprehend him.
MCPD said Timothy Birmingham, 39, is charged with interference with official acts. Police also said he had two warrants: failure to appear on providing false information and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent.
The fire department brought Birmingham to Mercy One at his request, authorities said. Police said they were unable to identify the victim.
MCPD is requesting anyone with more information to contact the police department.
