ReStoreFest kicks off in Rochester

(ABC 6 News) – An event in Rochester is starting back up again. Organizers of ReStoreFest said this event is about making a difference in people’s lives.

"This last year has been outstanding," Amanda Kintzi, sales floor manager for ReStore said.

The community came together to celebrate seven years of ReStore being in town. It’s a Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity business and the people here are going the extra mile to help people in the community.

"Even after COVID and everything, the community has gotten to know us a bit more. They’ve been coming to shop with us, they’ve been coming to donate with us. All of the money that we’ve been able to raise is going directly to Two Rivers Habitat for Humanity," Kintzi said.

And all that money raised goes toward building homes for families in need. And for Amanda, she’s glad the hard work to help families starts here.

"We have picked up the pace, we’ve been busier since COVID happened. We had a mom come in, she was able to buy a bed for her daughter so they wouldn’t have to have a mattress on the floor and that’s a really big deal," Kintzi said.

There were so many things to do on Saturday. Obviously, there was the shopping, but there was also a 25% off sale storewide, a raffle, food trucks and more. This is clearly a celebration of helping people.

"The Restore is an amazing place. Not only do we have amazing shoppers, but we have amazing volunteers. We couldn’t do what we do without their help," Kintzi said.

And for the people at the event, they’re glad they could be here and show support for local families.

"It’s awesome to come and support the local businesses that return the product to Rochester. I have a small child, so it’s nice to show him what we can do to build up the community," Kasson resident Amy Cline said.
