(ABC 6 News) – Minnesota lawmakers and nurses came together Monday to reintroduce a bill that aims to solve the current crisis Minnesota hospitals are facing.
Due to staffing shortages, nurses have concerns over their physical well being along with their ability to properly care for patients under those conditions.
They say the nurses at the bedside act would help.
“Simply put, the current system we have for health care is not one where we can sustain our workforce through. We need changes to solve the crisis of short staffing that’s pushing nurses out of the profession. Unfortunately, the writing is on the wall that the change isn’t the intent of our hospital executives”>
Some goals of the bill include setting new staffing limits for hospitals.
It would also require workplace violence prevention training and an education loan forgiveness program for nurses.
