(ABC 6 News) – Tuesday, Senator Amy Klobuchar says more needs to be done as there are renewed calls for gun control following the shooting at Michigan State University.
She says while we have gotten a start with the bipartisan gun safety bill we can expand it.
She says reform shouldn’t have to feel like its taking any rights away from gun owners.
“I have always believed that responsible gun owners, its part of our way of life in Minnesota, hunting and fishing is part of our way of life, and I’ve always said that my uncle Dick in Rochester, in a deer stand, he doesn’t need an assault weapon,” Klobuchar explained.
Meantime Senator Klobuchar says she carried a bill with Senator Chuck Grassley about improving campus security and providing more funding for secured entrances in schools.

Grassley is reintroducing the “EAGLES Act” as it’s called.
The bill, named after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mascot, would expand the U.S. Secret Service’s National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) to include a greater focus on preventing targeted violence, including school violence.
The NTAC provides research and training for behavioral threat assessment and targeted violence, including school shootings and other public threats. The legislation creates a national program on targeted school violence prevention, and expands the NTAC’s research and training on school violence and its dissemination of information on school violence prevention initiatives.
