Thursday Snow, or No?
We are tracking a second, more potent winter storm for Thursday, coming in close to the Weather First area. As expected, and as we’ve noted all-week, the heaviest snow continues to trend to our south & east. We aren’t completely out of the snow potential however, as light snow will clip the entire area, with minor totals in the 1″ to 2″ range across northern IA. This will be more likely closer to, along, and south of Highway 18. Snow totals will trend less & less the farther north and west you travel. Impacts will be greatest along a line from Des Moines towards Madison once again. Nearly identical to what we saw last Thursday. Wind will be a bit breezy locally, coming out of the NNE, with gusts in the 30-35 mph range early Thursday, blowing the snow around at times, adding to the minor travel impacts to the area.
