2 injured in Winona County police pursuit
(ABC 6 News) – A police pursuit in Winona County late Thursday night left two people injured.
The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) says just before midnight, a Winona County Sheriff’s Department deputy was in pursuit of a fleeing Jeep on westbound I-90 near Lewiston.
The Jeep turned at a cross-over to go eastbound when the deputy made intentional contact with the Jeep in an effort to make it stop. The Jeep was then struck by an eastbound semi before it collided with the Winona County squad car, according to the crash report. Both vehicles came to a rest in the cross-over while the semi crashed into the center median.
The driver of the Jeep, 43-year-old Carl Haugen of Crystal, Minn. and passenger, 35-year-old Katherine Harper of Fairview Heights, Illinois were both taken to Winona Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
No information was given on what led to the police pursuit.
The Minnesota State Patrol said via social media that they will be completing an investigation into the crash on Friday afternoon which may affect eastbound I-90 traffic.

The MSP was assisted at the scene by the Winona County Sheriff’s Department, Lewiston Fire Department, Lewiston Police Department, and St. Charles Police.
