First Black Excellence Expo in Rochester welcomes black-owned businesses

The NAACP of Rochester and the Black Entrepreneurship Team came together to hold the first Black Excellence Expo.

This invited black-owned businesses to share what they had and to network with each other.

“There’s a lot of talent, there’s a lot of innovation, there’s a lot of grit, and also there’s a lot of community and family and so again it was important for us as a community to come out,” Rochester NAACP President Wale Elegbede said.

The Expo took place at the Sports Mentorship Academy.

There you found a variety of products from black businesses and they hope to have more events like this in the future.

“We want the community to understand that we have way more black businesses in the community than they are aware of, so glad to see we have some community that’s coming in to support these organizations as well,” Black Entrepreneurship Team co-founder Tawonda Burks said.

The plan is to hold this every year and to watch it grow.
