(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester city council approved a plan to allow a new owner of the Castle building in downtown.
The city sold the building to the Castle community in 2017 with the requirement that the space had to be an arts and cultural hub.
Under the Castle community struggled with unforeseen impacts of the pandemic. The building saw Cameo restaurant and Echo church move in.
With this most recent sale to David Arnett of Arnett Enterprises LLC. City officials say they hope the focus will return to arts.
“I just want to make it clear that this is not a three-party arrangement here that we’re trying to renegotiate. This is us transferring the arrangements we made with one owner to another owner,” Councilmember Patrick Keane explained.
Arnett Enterprises will be required to adhere to the same requirements laid out by the city to castle community.
