Bonding bill passes House, now moves on to the Senate

(ABC 6 News) – Lawmakers in the Minnesota House have passed nearly 2-billion dollars in infrastructure spending.
A majority of that money they want to borrow for dozens of projects across the state, everything from roads and bridges to higher education campus projects.
Even though the bonding bill passed the House, there’s little chance it will pass the Senate where Democrats have just a one-seat majority.
Under state law, borrowing money by selling bonds requires a three-fifths majority.
Democrats are unlikely to get that kind of support without first agreeing to some tax cuts sought by Republicans.
The legislature hasn’t passed a bonding bill since 2020.
