Stewartville to play for Class AAA state title; defeats top-seeded Becker, 60-59

(ABC 6 News) – The Stewartville Tigers girls basketball team will play for a state championship.

The Tigers defeated the top-seeded Becker Bulldogs, 60-59 in a thrilling game that went down to the final seconds. The Tigers trailed 38-27 at halftime.

The Tigers were led by Ella Theobald’s 15 points. Haylie Strum chipped in with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Tigers will play the winner of Alexandria Area High School vs Benilde-St. Margaret’s in the Class AAA championship game on Saturday, Mar. 18 at 6:00 p.m. at Williams Arena.
