Woman detained after RPD responds to fire alarm at a Rochester church
(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester Police Department (RPD) detained a woman after responding to a fire alarm at a southwest Rochester church.
RPD said they responded to a fire alarm at Christ United Methodist Church, located at 400 5th Ave. SW in Rochester around 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
Upon arrival, officers located a 37-year-old Rochester woman inside the church lying on the ground shaking and speaking with personnel from the Rochester Fire Department.
When an officer questioned the woman about the fire alarm, she gave no reasonable responses and ran down a hallway.
The officer located the woman who was pulling wires from a copper phone line box. The officer told her to stop, but she did listen.
RPD said the woman was detained and taken to Saint Marys Hospital for evaluation.
The church did not wish to pursue charges.
