Demolition begins Monday for Central Water Tower in Albert Lea

(ABC 6 News) – Demolition will begin next week on the Central Water Tower in Albert Lea.

City officials in Albert Lea say the first phase of reconstruction will start on Monday and that the demolition involves torch cutting into manageable pieces and lowering to the ground with a crane.

This project will require sidewalk closures on the north and east side of the block containing the Central Water Tower (Fountain Street and Newton Avenue). Temporary road closures and detours of will also be required on an as needed basis.

The city is reminding residents to exercise caution and reduce speed when driving around this construction area and if they have any questions they can reach out to the City Engineer’s office at (507)-377-4325.

U.S. SiteWork Inc. from Elk River MN is the prime contractor for this project.
