Semi driver pronounced dead following serious crash Wednesday morning

(ABC 6 News) — UPDATE 3:45 pm – The Mason City Police Department said a crash Wednesday morning left one person dead and sent another to the hospital.
Chief Jeff Brinkley said a semi heading south on N California Ave went through a stop sign without stopping and collided with a Chevrolet Silverado.
The semi left the road and went into a cornfield where it caught on fire. Chief Brinkley said the driver, 52-year-old Amar Pinjo of Waterloo, Iowa, was thrown from the semi and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, 57-year-old Matt Hoveland of Osage, Iowa was taken to the hospital but has since been released.
