UPDATE: Woman rescued from storm drain after fleeing arrest

(ABC 6 NEWS)– Rochester police rescued a woman from a Zumbro River storm drain after she fled police Friday evening.

According to Rochester police, an officer noticed a woman who had a warrant for her arrest, the woman resisted arrest and fled on foot. The woman then jumped into the river and ended up in a storm drain.

Rescue crews were able to get the woman out shortly after 10 p.m. and has been taken to St. Marys for evaluation. It is unknown if there are any injuries or what the warrant is for.

Rochester Police Dept. says she traveled approximately 200 feet into the pipe before exiting. The incident lasted about 2.5 hours.
