(ABC 6 News) – UPDATE:- Police have identified the man accused of robbing a Rochester bank and attempting to rob a bank in Pine Island Friday.
31-year-old Jacari A. Peters of Chicago, Illinois is being held at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center and is facing a charge of simple robbery.
According to court documents, just after 9:30 a.m. on September 10, Peters came into Sterling State Bank in southeast Rochester with his right hand in his front jacket pocket and demanded money.
A female victim told investigators Peters said “I’m robbing you, give me your money.” The victim said she repeated what the suspect said as she wanted someone else to hear it. The victim then took out her drawer and removed the money.
An adult male victim heard the suspect say “put the money in the bag, I don’t want to hurt anybody”. Peters then fled the bank.
About 30 minutes later, officers learned that authorities in Goodhue County responded to an attempted bank robbery in Pine Island.
Peters was taken into custody after a traffic stop just north of Mantorville. A search warrant for Peters’s vehicle yielded $1,694 in cash located in the center console. 5 $20 bills matched the serial numbers from Sterling State bank.
Peters will make an initial court appearance on September 22.
