Drought expands and intensifies

The US Drought Monitor was updated today and the area in Extreme Drought has expanded. All of the ABC 6 News viewing area is now under Moderate, Severe, or Extreme Drought. Our drought is, so far, a short-term drought, or “flash drought”. Following a wet spring, the rain stopped falling in the middle of May and our deficit since June 1st is nearing 7″ of rain.
