UPDATE – The Rochester Fire Department said two adults were taken to the hospital following a duplex fire Thursday night.
“We were headed home from the store, and we’ve seen like an explosion type of smoke cloud rising from 42nd street, Roger Bishop said.”
Rochester firefighters responded, they said at the time of the fire, there were seven people inside the duplex’s two units.
“When crews arrived on scene, they found heavy fire showing from the back of the house we quickly initiated a fire attack and knocked down the bulk of the fire very quickly,” RFD captain Caleb Feine said.
The flames have been put out. Crews say four people and three children were able to get out safely.
Firefighters remind everyone what precautions they can take.
“The best thing that you can do is to verify that you have working smoke detectors in your home on all levels, near bedrooms so that you are alerted early if there is a fire so you can get out quickly, Feine said.”
The department said it’s investigating the cause and where flames broke out.
