After delays, Freeborn Court schedules 9 trial days for Weiland

(ABC 6 News) – After multiple delays, the Freeborn County Court has scheduled a range of nine September trial days for defendent Devin Weiland.
In late July, ABC 6 News learned that Weiland’s August trial had been canceled.
Weiland reached out to the station to express his frustration with the nearly-two-year judicial process.

"I have no idea what’s going on in my case anymore," Weiland told ABC 6 News.
Weiland’s defense attorney, Grant David Sanders, did not comment.
Freeborn County Court administration said that after Weiland filed a demand for a speedy trial on July 28, the court set the trial dates.
On Wednesday, the Minnesota court system scheduled trial dates for Weiland from Sept. 6 to Sept. 9, and Sept. 12 to Sept. 16, 2022.
Freeborn County Court indicated that they believe Weiland’s trial will take approximately nine days.
Weiland is charged with three counts of first-degree attempted murder and three counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, after allegedly shooting a police officer and two others at Shady Oaks Apartments in Albert Lea in November 2020.
