OKC Thunder player, Minnesota native, Chet Holmgren out for season
(ABC 6 News) – The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Thursday that Minnesota native and 2022 No. 2 overall draft pick Chet Holmgren is out for the season with a foot injury.
According to ESPN, Holmgren suffered a Lisfranc injury to his right foot in the CrawsOver Pro-Am game in Seattle last weekend.
A Lisfranc fracture is a type of broken foot. The Lisfranc joint is the spot on top of the foot where the metatarsal bones (the bridges to the toes) connect to the rest of the foot, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
He allegedly suffered the injury due to a slippery court that ultimately forced the event to be stopped.
Holmgren attended high school at Minnehaha Academy in Minneapolis, MN where he help the Redhawks win three straight Class AA titles (2017-2019).
He went on to play one year at Gonzaga University before entering the NBA draft this spring.
