(ABC 6 News) – Some people describe it as just like Christmas morning, and just like waiting to wake up on Christmas, some are just too excited to sleep.
“Cause I’m a crazy person. I just love it,” said Jordan Johnson who claimed his spot at 7 o’clock the night before. He beat Ginger Johnson who thought coming at 11 p.m. like in years past, would put her first in line.
“This is my fourth year being first or second. But I’ve been coming early probably for about 10 years now.”
For most, they say it’s the food including JJ Vescio’s. Once restaurant based, now you can only find it at the fair.
“Every year it’s a lot of fun,” said Kathryn Borchert, the general manager.
“You get a lot of people that come back that miss the restaurant that has been coming here for years with their families. You know, their kids come. Their grandparents have come. So it’s fun to see people that have come year after year.”
While the food might be some people’s favorite part, for others, it’s the people watching, or the rides.
With the first day of the fair in the books, there’s still plenty of time to go out and have your favorites. or, try something new.
