Additional rain Thursday, heavy rain likely
A strong storm system with high moisture for this time of year will lead to rain developing Wednesday night lasting through Thursday leading to heavy rain potential.
Moisture will transport north from the Gulf of Mexico as the storm moves across the region leading to rain through the day Thursday becoming heavy at times.
A cold front will slide through the area with rain ending by Friday morning.
In all, the rain from Tuesday and any additional precipitation through the weekend will add up to 1-4″ across the ABC 6 Weather First area with 2-4″ likely across much of southeast Minnesota and 1-3″ in north Iowa.
Considering the drought conditions currently plaguing the area, the soil should be able to take in all of the rain, however some ponding and street flooding is possible.
