(ABC 6 News) – It was a busy night for the Rochester City Council on Monday evening.
The Rochester City Council voted and deemed the former Legends Bar and Grill property to not be historically significant after the Rochester Heritage Preservation Commission voted to make it a historical landmark just last month.
While plans are still up in the air for the building on 4th St. SE the council did move to remove advertising and awnings from the building.
In other council action, contracts of roughly $10 million dollars were approved for the new Discovery Walk, which will run 4 blocks south of Mayo’s Gonda building and will narrow the street by 26 feet.
The parkway will include amenities and gathering areas.
Rochester Mayor Kim Norton said, “There is strong support for that to be done, many of the business are really looking forward to that being done."
The project is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2023 with a total cost of more than $18.6 million.
