Austin man’s remaining Mower County cases dismissed “in the interest of justice”
(ABC 6 News) – Terry Izeal Heggs’ two remaining cases in Mower County Court were dismissed Thursday, Jan. 11, “in the interest of justice.”
Heggs was scheduled to appear for pretrial hearings Friday, Jan. 12, on 5 charges of violating a Domestic Abuse No-Contact Order (DANCO).
Heggs was previously convicted of one charge of predatory offender–fails to register and one charge of violating a DANCO. He was sentenced to 36 months at the MN Correctional Facility in St. Cloud, beginning in September of 2023.
As Heggs is already serving a 3-year sentence, the Mower County Attorney’s Office concluded that any sentence levied for the 5 DANCO violations, if Heggs was convicted, would be served concurrently.
Therefore, the Attorney’s Office dismissed the cases.
In 2023, Heggs was the defendant in 10 active Mower County court cases.
Since July, almost all of those cases were dismissed, acquitted, or put on hold after a witness failed to appear.
