Stewartville man pleads guilty in second child pornography case

(ABC 6 News) – UPDATE: A Stewartville man pleaded guilty to new child pornography charges Oct. 15.

Troy Lee Yotter pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing child pornography in December of 2021.

On Tuesday, Yotter pleaded guilty to two more counts of possessing child pornography–previous conviction.

He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 6, 2025.

According to Yotter’s plea agreement, Minnesota’s 2024 sentencing guidelines recommend 51-72 months in prison for a second child pornography conviction with Yotter’s current criminal score.

Yotter’s court documents state clearly that the 51-to72-month sentence is a recommendation to the judge–not a binding agreement.

(ABC 6 News) – A Stewartville man previously convicted of possessing child pornography appeared in court Thursday, Jan. 11, on three new charges.

Troy Lee Yotter, 44, pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing child pornography in December of 2021, after a man moved into a home Yotter had lived in, and found boxes of Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) or child pornography.

According to court documents, in September of 2023, the Rochester police learned that Yotter had obtained a cellphone with internet access — prohibited by the terms of his probation.

Search warrants filed in early January 2024 allege that when the probation agent noticed the phone and asked to see it, Yotter became nervous and claimed it had just died, even though the probation agent could see that it was still on and had a nearly full battery.

The probation officer seized the phone, according to court documents.

According to court documents, RPD searched the phone and allegedly located around 100 images of children and teens engaging in sex acts.

Yotter is scheduled to appear in Olmsted County Court again Jan. 23.
