Rochester residents come together for “We Have a Dream” Celebration
(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Med City community is coming together to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Speakers at the “We Have a Dream Celebration taking the time to shed light on the work that still needs to be done to reach equality.
“It can feel like chaos because once you break the wheel, you have to build a new one and fully get free by leaving behind the old ways of doing things,” Justin Terrell, executive director of the Minnesota Justice Research Center said.
“His words live on and his words were etched both in stone and in our hearts,” Walé Elegbede, president of the Rochester NAACP Branch said.
For the kids at the event, they’re inspired to make a difference. Dr. King’s words live on.
People at the event participated in a freedom march.
It was too cold to be held outside, so people marched in the skyway system.
