(ABC 6 News) – Winter came late this year, and a Rochester tire store shares tips on how to keep your tires and vehicles safe out in the cold.

Discount Tires on the north side of Rochester say that air pressure is crucial. Experts also say the condition and type of your tires are very influential to their capabilities during winter.

Safety includes having the right type of tire on your vehicle at the right tread depth, and giving yourself plenty of space when driving.

Discount Tires has also done a ton of free air checks this season.

“Having a winter tire on your vehicle at this particular environment is highly very beneficial, the compounds keep the tire much much softer with these cold temperatures,” said store manager Zack Kiefer.

Discount Tires also do inspections for free, allowing walk-ins.
