Tracking chances for wintry mix, rain this week

The week ahead will become a bit more active with multiple chances for precipitation as several waves of energy track through the area.

Considering temperatures will be near freezing over the next several days, the type of precipitation is more challenging as one degree can make a difference.

A system will pass primarily to the southeast on Tuesday, however the northern edge may sneak into southeast Minnesota (east of Hwy 52, south of I-90) and northeast Iowa which may bring a wintry mix/snow to start the day with a wet snow likely staying south into northeast Iowa and southwest Wisconsin through the day.

Another wave of energy will arrive by Wednesday morning and once again lead to the chance of a wintry mix, mainly south of I-90, before switching to rain by afternoon as temperatures warm to above freezing.

Yet another wave will arrive by Thursday morning and once again bring the chance of a wintry mix (freezing rain/sleet/snow) before changing to rain.

Precipitation amounts look to be fairly light with each and some places may see little to nothing. Snow accumulations should largely stay southeast of the local area into northeast/eastern Iowa into southern Wisconsin.

Make sure to keep updated on future forecasts for any possible impacts.

Friday and the upcoming weekend look to stay dry.
