(ABC 6 News) – A Stewartville man faces his third felon in possession of a firearm charge since Oct. 30, according to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.

James Michael Kenyon, 25, was taken into custody Tuesday, Jan. 14, around 1:30 p.m., according to Capt. Tim Parkin with the OCSO.

Parkin said deputies learned that Kenyon was a suspect in a stolen motorcycle case and executed a search warrant at his home in the 2000 block of Cardinal Lane NW, where they allegedly found the stolen Yamaha motorcycle in the living room of his mobile home.

According to Parkin, deputies also found shotgun shells and ammunition.

Kenyon was charged Monday, Jan. 22, with Possess Ammo/Any Firearm – Conviction or Adjudicated Delinquent for Crime of Violence. He was also charged with receiving stolen property.

Kenyon was previously arrested in November, allegedly with a sawed-off shotgun and another stolen motorcycle.

Before that, Kenyon was arrested Oct. 30, 2023, after deputies allegedly saw him traveling on a motorcycle without a license plate.

Kenyon crashed the motorcycle into brush at the interchange from Highway 63 onto I-90 as he attempted to evade police, per court documents.

Deputies claimed he had a functioning tazer in one pocket, as well as a magazine containing 9mm bullets.

Kenyon pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a short-barreled shotgun in relation to the November case Thursday, Dec. 28. He also pleaded guilty to a count of felon of possession of a firearm or ammunition related to the October case.

An earlier October arrest for fleeing police in a motor vehicle was dismissed as part of the plea deal.

Kenyon had been released from Olmsted County ahead of his sentencing, scheduled for Feb. 26, 2024.

He is currently held in the Olmsted County ADC on $100,000 bail.
