(ABC 6 News) – In Iowa, a new bill proposes changes to how parents oversee parts of their children’s educaiton.

Lawmakers push for all school districts to provide annual updates and overviews of their human growth and development curriculum.

It would cover subjects that describe the process of growth in physical, intellectual and social phases of life.

According to the bill, a school district could not enroll students in grades seven through twelve in courses discussing human growth and development without also notifying parents.

Parents would also be required to give written consent that their student may engage in the curriculum.

If passed, any materials would need parental approval and could stunt education on human growth.
